about

Dedicated to the memory of my Uncle Bill Byrne.

NB: If you would like to share my music, please don't share the link to Bandcamp. Share a link to this page from my work website via which people can use to preview and buy instead please: www.seolondonsurrey.co.uk/my-music . We don't what the future of BC looks like so this will future proof things for me in the short-medium term.

Some stuff from the can (a.ka. laptop) from 2018-23. Lockdowns etc.

Made "in the box" using www.ableton.com Live Lite (a great tool which has almost but not quite made a musician from someone with no musical talent but a half-decent ear), VSTs and maybe a midi keyboard / PC speakers I found in a rubbish bin on one track or two iirc #bindiving .

No loops used iirc.

released November 18, 2023

Special thanks to those who helped me (I needed help) on my musical journey to step one (sometimes just on the basis of one "cold email" out of the blue - extra special thanks to those):

Matt Hatchard, Blufoot (you also helped kick start me trying my hand at 'journalism') & Dark Angel (who ended up on the track we made), Rick Lehane, Reflex, Image Line, Quazzy B, Martyn McNelis (RIP), Klondyke, Steve Kaspar, Nick Lewis, Gareth Palmer aka Colonel Palmer KFC (knowledgeforchickens.bandcamp.com), Howard Jenkins, Colin Pierce for fixing my now retired rusty dusty laptop (my first proper beat making tool - which I picked up broken in Thailand in 04), my drum teacher at Farnborough Sixth Form (can't remember her name) - it was only (free) for a few weeks and I didn't have the money, Richard Savage for the help learning the guitar, Colin Morrison / Castles In Space, (DJ) Stagger Lee, Craig Miller, Ableton and my Mum and Dad.

I started to learn to make my own sounds in around 2005 as finding collaborators was / is hard work (and in the process found a wholesome hobby / transferable skill). 17 years later in 2022 got my first proper release scheduled for 2023 on castlesinspace.bandcamp.com/album/music-is-vast-a-tribute-to-the-music-and-legacy-of-vangelis .

Thanks also to Fiona Coughlan, freesound.org, The Journal of Nietzsche Studies (who once published a poem of mine which gave me some creative confidence in myself), people on internet forums who answered my questions / gave feedback, creators of free resources for Ableton like Brian Funk etc, Gibbo, Computer Music & Electronic Sound magazines, Phil Dixon (what you've done in music is inspiring to me), the Brighton Music Conference / Youtube tutorials, HRDF, Matthew Sergisson-Main, my English teacher Mrs Carol Rogers (her married name at the time) at Salesian College, Fboro and anyone I've forgotten. No thanks to the time wasters.

Thanks to friends who I learnt a lot about music from: David Akass, Kevin Matthews & Darren Flicker. Thanks to my family and friends too.
